Rajasthani Gypsy Folk meets Beatboxing 

BARMER BOYS (Rajasthan, India) are the ‘Global ambassadors of contemporary Rajasthani folk and Sufi music’, seamlessly fusing ‘Rajasthani Gypsy Folk with beatboxing’ and carry forward the centuries-old musical traditions of the Manganiyars. The bands versatility of styles and bubbling energy infuse each performance – from soulful Sufi kalaams to uplifting wedding and celebratory songs, to boisterous jams with beat-boxing and live DJ sets.

They fuse the ancient and the contemporary presenting spiritual, ecstatic music that makes you get up and dance. The folk music of modern India. 
The group formed in 2011 at the Amarrass Desert Music Festival in New Delhi, and made their international debut at Roskilde Festival in 2014. They have featured on MTV CokeStudio, BBC, NPR and at major festivals such as Mood Indigo, Bacardi NH7 Weekender, ZIRO Festival of Music (x2), Winnipeg Folk Festival, and many more. They have also collaborated with leading artists from around the globe including A.R.Rehman, Bombino, Gabacho Maroc Connection, Vieux Farka Touré, Baba Zula, and more. 

  • They played at Roskilde Festival 2014 between sets by Outkast and The Rolling Stones!
  • Their two albums have received critical acclaim with ‘Kesariya Balm’ (2017) debuting on the Top 40 Transglobal World Music Charts AND the first folk LP/vinyl record to be made in India in the 21st Century!
